Riverside Avondale Preservation Reveals its "Five Points Plan."

Five Points is due for a well-earned makeover in the coming years.
The Five Points streetscape will receive a well-earned makeover, to the benefit of Riverside Avondale residents.

Riverside Avondale Preservation Society has some major plans on the drawing board for a comprehensive Five Points makeover. Plans will incorporate both aesthetic and functional improvements, making it safer, more walkable, and more diverse in its eating, drinking and entertainment offerings.

The Five Points Plan was presented at the February Riverside Avondale Preservation society meeting, with the primary stakeholders, the Five Points Merchants Association, and many Riverside Avondale residents in attendance.

Planning began almost three years ago, in July 2013, with a simple walking tour by Riverside Avondale Preservation leadership, public officials, architectural and design consultants, and Five Points merchants. The tour culminated in a Riverside Avondale town hall meeting at Sun-Ray Cinema.

Believe it or not, traffic levels haven’t changed much in the past five years, leading to the Board’s realization that there actually could be room to downsize roads around the Five Points commercial area. Space available for meeting, dining, and just carousing, will be more plentiful, and more walk-friendly with landscaping and lighting improvements.

Don’t be surprised if this Five Points Concept Plan becomes a template for other urban areas like Downtown, Springfield and San Marco.

Bloom Realty is not a national database Real Estate company. We’re a neighborhood, local, Historic Avondale business, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

If you're looking to buy or sell a home in Historic Avondale, you’re going to have to look a whole lot deeper than Zillow, Trulia or Realtor.com. Bloom Realty is part of the fabric of Historic Avondale, like the Shoppes along St. Johns Avenue, a run with the dogs in Boone Park, burgers at The Brick or Bread Pudding at Biscotti’s.
