The French Pantry Coming to Murray Hill!

There's a variety of Bruschettas daily on the menu at The French Pantry.

Lunchtime in Avondale and Murray Hill just got more interesting. The French Pantry produces hour-long waiting lines, even in the scorching heat, at its Powers Avenue location. Yes, it's that good. The current Edgewood Bakery in Murray Hill will be transformed into The French Pantry, and Avondale and Murray Hill will be home to only the second location for this massively popular lunchtime destination. This is another example of Murray Hill's vibrant redevelopment effort.

Long lines are worth the wait at The French Pantry for lunch.
Long lines  -- they're worth the wait for lunch at The French Pantry.

The venerable Edgewood Bakery, a fixture for Avondale and Murray Hill residents since 1947, was previously owned by the Polletta family. Gary Poletta, the current proprieter, will stay on help manage the new restaurant.

The new owner, John Valentino is a fixture on the Jacksonville restaurant scene. He's the owner of Mellow Mushroom, Uptown Market, Burrito Gallery, and now, The French Pantry. (Valentino purchased the original French Pantry on Powers Avenue in 2015).

The Edgewood Bakery started the renovation even before it was purchased by Valentino. Repairs and upgrades included a new roof, new paint inside and out, and new interior fixtures.

Edgewood Bakery remains open through Saturday, March 12. Valentino plans to invest significant capital into the restaurant before re-opening as The French Pantry. Opening date will be announced soon.

1261 Challen Ave Historic Home for Sale Tour

Bloom Realty is not a national database Real Estate company. We’re a neighborhood, local, Historic Avondale business, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

If you're looking to buy or sell a home in Historic Avondale, you’re going to have to look a whole lot deeper than Zillow, Trulia or Realtor.com. Bloom Realty is part of the fabric of Historic Avondale, like the Shoppes along St. Johns Avenue, a run with the dogs in Boone Park, burgers at The Brick or Bread Pudding at Biscotti’s.
